In the dynamic world of transportation, the Waze Transport SDK stands as a beacon of innovation. This powerful tool allows companies to join a pioneering group that leverages technology and data intelligence to enhance their business operations, fostering increased transparency and efficiency between drivers and riders.

The Waze Transport SDK is a comprehensive tool designed to link your app to Waze, providing valuable driving data at no cost. This tool is exclusively available to partners, who can access the SDK documentation once logged in with their authorized email address.

Capabilities of the SDK

The Waze Transport SDK offers a range of capabilities:
  • Get ETA & Routing Points: This feature allows for the calculation of drive and arrival times based on Waze's real-time traffic and location data.
  • Access Navigation & Fastest Routes Quickly: Drivers can seamlessly switch between your app and Waze to find the fastest routes and avoid unforeseen delays.
  • Gain Unique Insight: The Waze SDK can generate valuable transportation data, such as travel times for service delivery.
However, it's important to note that the SDK is not intended for partners to build their own navigation app. Instead, the data provided should be used to enhance your app's customer experience and user interface.

Technical Requirements

The Waze Transport SDK is compatible with Android 4.4+ (Waze version 4.43+) and iOS 8.0+ (Waze version 4.43+).

Waze Transport SDK vs Waze Deep Links

The Waze Transport SDK is designed for transportation apps used by high-frequency, professional drivers and customers. If routing data from Waze is not required and your drivers do not need to frequently switch between Waze and your app, Waze Deep Links is a more lightweight and suitable solution. Waze Deep Links allows you to open the Waze client application through an external URL, accessible from another mobile app or a mobile web page.

Attribution Guidelines and Authorized Modifications

When using Waze navigation data, such as ETA or route points, it's crucial to provide clear and unambiguous attribution in your app. This attribution should be placed close to where the data is used in the user interface and must state "Powered by Waze" unless explicitly stated otherwise in a written statement.

Modification Rules

Waze content can only be slightly modified in a way that doesn't significantly impact data accuracy. For instance, ETA data can include an added 1–2 minutes per stop to account for real-life circumstances. However, any use of modified data outside of these rules, specifically on customer user interfaces, must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and permitted by written approval.

Visibility and Color Treatment

Ensure that brand attribution is visible and readable, with placement within the context of usage and close to the associated Waze data. Feel free to use the Waze logo on any colored background or shape of your choice.

Headers, Banners, and Social Channels

You can add your logo to the provided header for use when sending emails to drivers and users. Additionally, you can combine your brand, logo, and palette with the supplied image to create a shared partnership graphic for social channels.
